This is a culturally significant tree, which should be approached with caution. Also known as the stinging tree, the Gimpi Gimpi is the plant that Gympie was named after. The Butchulla recognised this bush as having strong medicine.
The original painting was done on art card with acrylic ochres. Then with brushes made from natural fibres, the detailing was finalised to bring the Gimpi Gimpi tree to being.
The reproduction is 50cm x 50cm on 320gsm Sihl MC Cotton Rag
